Meditation
For many who visit Bare Oaks, a simple stroll around the grounds could be considered a moving meditation. With the reduction of typical stimuli, we open ourselves to the natural beauty around every corner. We become aware of the trees, their shape and sway. The colour of the water, the sound of the stream, the way the light glistens as it flows. The temperature of the air on your skin, the breeze on your cheek.
Together in our meditation practice, we’ll deepen this awareness. We’ll learn to quiet the nagging demands and our own authoritative voices as we ease into gentleness. Meditating is a practice, and some days may be easier than others to soften the mind. It’s a journey worth embarking on if you seek stillness and a deeper connection to yourself and your surroundings.
Feeling comfortable is key. Depending on the temperature of your location, you might be nude, in a bathrobe, in your coziest clothes or covered in blankets. Sometimes laying or sitting still for 45 minutes can cause the body to ache. I’ll guide us through moving meditation to bring the body back to ease, and then continue on with the deep stillness.
